Bridport Parish Safeguarding Policy

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. The Parish of Bridport takes safeguarding very seriously. We work in partnership with the Diocese to ensure we implement and adhere to best practices.

What to do if I have a concern or suspect someone is experiencing abuse?

If you see or hear something, that makes you consider the possibility that a vulnerable person is being or has been harmed by neglect or abuse, you should report your concerns. Do not attempt to question, investigate or resolve the situation yourself.

As a church, we believe everyone shares the responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of the vulnerable, and committed to their care, nurture, and pastoral ministry.  This includes children, young people, adults, and older people.

We value, listen to and respect all and value everyone’s positive contribution and development within the church community.

Our commitment is to care for all, including the outcast, marginalised and stranger. We will provide a place where people are able to worship and pursue their faith journey, with support and encouragement within a managed safe environment.

We are committed to protect the vulnerable from harm, and to enable and encourage concerns to be raised and will respond without delay to every concern or complaint of risk and / or harm openly and consistently, working with the police and local authorities in any investigation.
